As a person ages, his or her tendency to have diminished cognitive function, including memory loss, increases. This video offers helpful tips for the prevention of cognitive decline.
Seniors may notice that as they get older, their ability to retrieve information or process new data becomes more difficult. Everyday activities such as cooking or driving may also present problems if a person cannot focus as easily as in the past. To combat these cognitive issues, senior citizens need to be sure to maintain healthy eating habits and a regular physical fitness regimen. You should also work on mentally stimulating activities, like crossword puzzles.
Chateau Cupertino offers a wide range of stimulating physical, social, and mental activities for our independent living residents. Call us today at (408) 446-4300 to find out more about our senior housing.

As many people know, maintaining a balanced diet is essential for one’s overall wellbeing. When you eat the right foods, you provide your body with important vitamins and nutrients. You can also promote a stable weight with healthy foods. Though good dietary habits are important throughout an individual’s life, seniors must be especially diligent about their nutrition.
With appropriate means and proper education, older individuals can successfully manage their diet. A retirement community can also offer residents consistently healthy meals to accommodate any number of specific health issues. The following facts offer further insight regarding the steps all seniors should take when monitoring their eating habits.
Seniors should maintain a nutrient-rich diet.
Fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins all constitute healthy eating choices for people of all ages. Because the body may be more prone to illness and deterioration as an individual gets older, it becomes even more important that he or she integrates good eating habits into an everyday lifestyle. Healthy foods can provide essential energy sources, vital nutrients, and key vitamins for seniors.
Seniors must be diligent about their individual healthcare needs.
Some older individuals must contend with specific dietary guidelines. People with high cholesterol or diabetes must be particularly attentive to their dietary restrictions. Though making delicious and nutritious meals that adhere to dietary constraints can be challenging for the average senior, independent living communities can often provide an ample selection of dishes that can accommodate these limitations.
Seniors require consistent hydration.
As a person ages, his or her ability to detect thirst and dehydration diminishes. Because older individuals may not notice when they need more fluids, it’s important that they incorporate consistent hydration habits into their daily routine.
Chateau Cupertino offers an extensive menu for our independent living residents that can cater to all appetites and dietary restrictions. To find out more about our dining options or the other amenities that our retirement community provides, please call (408) 446-4300.

Independent senior living facilities allow seniors to maintain their freedom while providing support, resources, and a sense of community. At Chateau Cupertino, we offer an Independent Plus Program which provides these benefits, along with some additional perks. As we are not an assisted living facility, there are certain care services which we do not provide. However, we are happy to help you connect with outside resources that can provide resident care services in our independent living facility.
Personal Care Assistance
Our residents have the option to receive personal care services from a third party company. They can receive care as often as they need for as long as they want. Whether recovering from a hospital stay or dealing with a chronic medical condition, we can help your senior loved one get the assistance he or she needs. Our residents can also receive home therapy services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapies.
Medical Options
At Chateau Cupertino, we will care for your loved one’s health through good nutrition, active programming, and educational opportunities. We can recommend healthcare providers, but you are not obligated to use any specific provider. In addition, we provide great resources regarding seniors’ health and wellness needs.
Healthcare Support
While it can be difficult to work through issues with your senior loved one’s health and medical needs, communicating with each other can make decision-making much easier. At Chateau Cupertino, we can help you organize your loved one’s care so that he or she can remain comfortable and healthy.
Chateau Cupertino’s San Jose facility can provide your loved one with an excellent, supportive community and great facilities. Meals, laundry, and housekeeping are all included! Our staff can also answer any questions you may have about additional care. For more information about Chateau Cupertino, call us today at (408) 446-4300.
